Fluid distortion
WebGLMove to smear
How it works
A word is baked black on white, then a real-time stable-fluids simulation adds a velocity field wherever the pointer moves. The shader displaces the letters along that field and samples the red and blue channels a fraction apart, so a quick move leaves a liquid, chromatic smear that settles as the field decays. It is the same effect that runs across the site's headings, here bounded to one canvas and driven by the pointer inside it, so it works on touch too.
